Haçienda Classical

24 Nov 2016

Following great critical acclaim and phenomenal demand FAC 51 The Haçienda and Manchester Camerata, the city’s experimental orchestra are bringing back Haçienda Classical in 2017 with a brand new soundtrack for the concerts at a run of shows

The first set of dates were announced last month with the returns to Manchester Castlefield Bowl and London's Royal Albert Hall which both sold out instantly. In addition to these shows, Hacienda Classical will now come to Leeds First Direct Arena on Friday 14th April 2017 for its first ever performance in a city which has a long standing affinity and association with The Hacienda.

The incredible show sees the DJ's who shaped The Haçienda's sound – Mike Pickering and Graeme Park - collaborate with the Camerata for a night of classic dance music,  innovatively adapted and arranged especially for the occasion.

As The Hacienda's dance heritage collided with the world of classical music, the concerts have been widely praised with dates selling out in minutes and great audience responses from the gigs.

Graeme Park commented; "I am excited about next year's tour and the new set. I'm currently enjoying digging deep into my huge record collection to find new tracks for 2017' show and I'm already having heated debates with Mike Pickering about which tracks will work and what we should include in the final mix. There's such a rich seam of music to mine from the 1980s and 1990s, and it's immense fun trying to decide what will ultimately make the cut. The pressure is on but I'm enjoying it greatly."

Moving into its second year, the tour returns to venues that hosted this year's inspirational nights as well as new locations, recreating the seminal tracks that defined a generation at the original club, renewed afresh and rearranged for a classical orchestra.

Musical director, conductor and arranger Tim Crooks adds. "Hacienda Classical with Manchester Camerata in 2016 set a new benchmark for a live show with DJs, singers and orchestra, and we're still buzzing from entertaining so many people with it. We're making the show even better for 2017 - it's going to be epic!"
