What do we commit to?
The venue has achieved greener venue certification - the only venue to have done so in Yorkshire!
Our leadership team is fully committed to achieving the stated sustainability goals and has a dedicated sustainability working group.
ImPACTS software monitors our sustainability efforts by setting department targets across three key areas:
- Protecting the Environment
- Investing in People
- Strengthening Communities
Reusable Plastic Strategy
ASM Global and the first direct arena is working towards eliminating the need for single use plastic in the Arena.
- Working towards eliminating the need for plastic cups.
- No single use plastic cutlery, plates or starws are used.
- Additional plumbed in water points have been installed.
Energy
- Login software is installed to track energy usage.
- The venue is rolling out a programme to switch the venue to LED lighting.
- Measures are in place to ensure all non-essential equipment is switched off when not in use.
Water Usage
- A Rainwater Harvesting System channels rainwater into a roof drainage system, to be used in toilets.
- This rainwater harvesting system is placed under a sedum roof, which promotes biodiversity.
- Our green biodiversity wall attracts all types of wildlife, to help maintain a healthy ecosystem within our city.
Recycle & Waste Management
- Waste is split into recyclable and non-recyclable.
- NO waste goes to landfill.
- Around 200 number of recycle bins within the venue.
Donations
- All non-uncollected lost property is donated to local charities
- Any furniture or other equipment is reused in other ASM venues
- Ticket donations for local charities
Food
- Work along with ‘Guardians of Grub;’ a collective organisation whose sole aim is to reduce food waste.
- All waste food is recycled through Compost It. (QR code to their website – info page)
